Stephen Szendrey

YORK HARBOR - Stephen Szendrey, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2006.

He was born on February 5, 1920, in Budapest, Hungary. He spent six years of his childhood in America before returning to Hungary at age 12. He married Anneli Holdt in 1949, and they both came to the United States, becoming naturalized citizens in 1957. They settled in York Harbor in 1960.

He worked at the University of New Hampshire for over 20 years until his retirement.

His wife, Anneli Szendrey, passed away last year.

Stephen is survived by his daughter Vivian A. Tocci and her husband Angelo, and his granddaughter Angela of West Palm Beach, Fla.

He will be remembered by everyone who knew him as a quiet, sweet and gentle man with a twinkle in his eye.
