Muriel E. Treadwell

YORK - Muriel E. (Small) Treadwell, 83, of 70 Beech Ridge Road, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, in York Hospital.

She was born in Newport, Maine, the daughter of Elmer O. and Onie (McCollar) Small.

She was a schoolteacher and taught at the Shapleigh School in Kittery and as a substitute teacher in Sanford. She was a graduate of Bates College and a member of Alpha Delta Kappa. She was a member of the Maine Teacher's Association and Past Noble Grand of the Rahmah Rebekah Lodge # 53 in Sanford.

She leaves her husband of 59 years, Philip W. Treadwell; a son, William P. Treadwell and his wife, Linda, of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Jeanne E. Baker and her husband, Gary, of Browns Mills, N.J., and Nancy L. Douglas and her husband, Gary, of Wells; a brother, Earl Small of York; six grandchildren, Scott Douglas, Patricia Yaxley, Michelle Treadwell, Jennifer Baker, Alison Baker and Timothy Baker, and two great-grandchildren, Darlotta Baker and Emily Sullivan.

A brother Robert Small predeceased her.

The funeral service for Mrs. Treadwell was held on Friday, May 12, at 11 a.m. in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, with burial in First Parish Cemetery.
