Lady Cats shut out Lady Knights 3-0

By Stan Ross

York Head Coach Lynne Michaud was happy to report that the Lady Wildcats (3-5) had broken their three game losing streak behind the complete game shutout pitching of Haley Woods. The Poland Lady Knights are a good hitting team but Woods gave up only five hits while striking out five and she was helped by some good defensive support. Catcher Lindsay Robinson threw out three runners attempting to steal, first baseman Caitlyn Keating saved what could have been a three RBI double when she snagged a line drive, and center fielder Michaela Franey threw out a runner trying to advance from first to third.

The Lady Cats scored the only runs of the game in the fourth inning when Becky Enright led off with a bunt single and Caitlyn Keating put down a sacrifice bunt. Franey reached to put runners at first and third and after a delayed double steal Jolene Ciampa doubled and Kellie Lajoie came through with a two run single. In addition to her defensive play catcher Robinson also had two hits.
