"Golf is a good walk spoiled" - Mark Twain, a former part-time resident of York.

The quote above may no longer be pertinent as many golf courses are now requiring that players rent golf carts. I'm not a big fan of the game of golf, preferring a less sedentary activity like tennis. However, I'll do my best to present useful Web sites for those practitioners of a game, to quote Winston Churchill, ".... whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose".
The Weather Channel - www.weather.com/activities/recreation/ - Before you go to play golf you'll need to check the weather and obtain the Golf Index. The Weather Channel is one of the better weather sites. Going to Myrtle Beach for golf? Check this week's weather. Find the weather for any city in the world. This site also has a Golf Course Locator - by name or by location.
Golf for Dummies - usatoday.golfserv.com/apps/tools/glossary.asp - From USA Today. Golf phrases, terms and slang. Think a bisque is a rich, creamy soup made from meat, fish, or shellfish? Guess again. In golf, a bisque is a handicap stroke given by one player to another. Amaze your friends with your knowledge of the arcana of golf terminology even if you're a duffer and shank all your tee shots into the rough.
