Project Kitten Raises more than 7,900 pounds of donations for AWS

KENNEBUNK - The Animal Welfare Society to date has received a total of 7,910 pounds in donations of much-needed supplies, as a result of the Project Kitten campaign to help care for the more than 600 homeless kittens expected this year.

This year's winners of the "Project Kitten Challenge" were Girl Scout Troop #639, which donated over 720 pounds of supplies, and TrueNorth in Kennebunk for a donation of 4,000 pounds of wood pellet cat litter.

An estimated 150 people attended last weekend's Kitten Shower, which also included informational exhibits on the low-cost spay/neuter and volunteer foster programs, a Feline Facts Scavenger Hunt, raffles, merchandise for sale and other prizes.

The Project Kitten campaign continues through the end of May. For more information on "Project Kitten" contact Katie Dolloff at 985-3244 or visit the AWS website at www.animalwelfaresociety.org.
