Robert W. Emery

SOUTH BERWICK - Robert W. Emery, 49, of 12 Brattle Street, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H., as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident May 20 in Kittery.

Born in Portsmouth, N.H., on January 10, 1957, he was the son of Robert and Marilyn (Stevens) Smith. He was a former resident of Kittery, where he was a 1975 graduate of Traip Academy, and has lived in South Berwick since December 1986.

His hobbies were motorcycle riding, guns, coins and thrift shops; he loved to cook and enjoyed reading.

He was employed by Easter Seals as a work site instructor and caregiver. He was the former owner and operator of Emery Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning.

Robert was an active member and deacon of South Berwick Free Baptist Church, and he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years Christina (Sherwood) Emery and two daughters, Jaimi Littlefield and Janis Emery, all of South Berwick; his mother and father Marilyn and Robert Smith of Rollinsford, N.H.; his siblings, Kevin Emery of Pittsfield, Delphine Skillins of Danvers, Mass., and Kermit Smith of Christianburg, Va., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A brother, William Emery predeceased him.

A memorial service and celebration of his life was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, at South Berwick Free Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roy Reynolds officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in South Berwick.
