Ogunquit residents, town officials and veterans gathered Monday to take part in a Memorial Day parade and ceremony honoring those who have lost their lives in the fight for freedom.

On Memorial Day, the hundreds of local residents who turned out to participate in the annual parades and ceremonies in York and Ogunquit were asked never to forget the sacrifices made by the servicemen and women who have fought to keep the country free.
Area residents should mark their calendars to attend a forum planned by the Ogunquit Conservation Committee and aptly named 'The Beach and Beyond.'
The multi-purpose room at the Dunaway Center served as the display area over the Memorial Day holiday for 128 of the 47,000 panels created by friends and family members across the nation in memory of those who have died of AIDS.
