Lincoln Academy 5-1 over Cats
The York Lady Wildcats got bumped from the Western Maine Class B playoffs on Monday by Lincoln Academy, giving up five runs in the first inning en route to a 5-1 defeat. The five runs for Lincoln Academy came on four hits, one error, a walk and a stolen base. York scored one run in the second on a pair of singles by Michaela Franey and Kelly Lajoie, but that would be all for York. Hailey Woods pitched a complete game, settling down after the first inning to hold Lincoln scoreless for the rest of the game. York finished the season at 6-11.Cats blanked by Clippers in final regular season game
Last week, Tuesday May 30, the York Lady Wildcats (6-10) played host again to the top rated Yarmouth Lady Clippers (15-1) and for six scoreless innings had hopes of pulling off a huge upset which would have improved their playoff position. But it was not to be. Alyssa Lowell walked to lead off the seventh and was ruled safe on a steal of second when a hard collision knocked the ball loose from short stop Mo Roche. Lowell scored on a sharp single to right by Haley McGuire. Haley Woods pitched the complete game for York and struck out nine batters while walking just one and giving up only three hits.
