Students in York's Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program pose with York School Resource Officer Scott Cogger on Friday morning, June 9, after being selected as the Top 10 DARE-Elks Club Poster Contest Winners for 2006. Students on Coastal Ridge Elementary School's Civil Rights Team, working with drama coach Ronda Verges of Inside-Out Productions, presented a performance of the children's play "Sticks, Stoned and Stumped" to all the students in grades 2 through 4 at the town's two elementary schools. Above, the students fielded questions about the play and the importance of taking a stand against bullying following the June 2 performance. The team's message is "Respect for All."

For the annual Maine Night information celebration at Coastal Ridge Elementary School, held this year on Thursday, June 1, third-grade student Abigail Goodrich shared her research on Cornelia "Fly Rod" Crosby, who lived from 1854-1946 and was the first registered female Maine Guide.
