Carol Tyler Furber

YORK - Carol went to be with her heavenly father and join loved ones gone on before her on June 21, 2006, in the city where the streets are paved with gold and the roses never fade.

Carol was born at Calais, Maine, April 8, 1933, to Harry Everett Tyler and Marjorie Helen Johnson Tyler. Carol attended Milltown Grammar School and graduated from Calais Memorial High School, class of 1950, and Holy Rosary Commercial School, class of 1951.

While attending high school she worked for JJ Newberry Co. and later worked in the office for the Eastern Pulpwood Co., before leaving Calais to work for Union Mutual Insurance Co. in Portland, where she met and later married her beloved husband Scott Furber Jr. of York, who predeceased her in 1999 after 39 years of happy marriage.

She leaves to mourn her passing two beloved children, Christopher S. Furber of Wylie, Texas, and Julie Ann Carol Furber of Houston, Texas; one brother Harry Tyler and wife Betty of Calais; two sisters, Shirley Clark and husband Fred of Waterville, and Joyce Avery and husband George of St Petersburg, Fla.; two brothers-in-law Carter Furber and wife Carolyn of York and Chester Chase of Cape Neddick; many very special and beloved nieces and nephews, and a very special family, Gary, Fran, Brian and Pamela Adornato of Wylie, Texas.

Carol was a special person; to know her was to love her and we know this by the many friends she made in life.

Her gentle nature and thoughtful ways helped many. She was always there in a crisis. She loved holidays and family gatherings especially her trips to Maine each summer to visit family and friends. She died in Baylor University Hospital, Dallas, Texas, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and many friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 332 N Lauderdale, Memphis, Tenn.

A memorial service will be held in York at the First Parish Church on Saturday, July 8, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow the service in the First Parish Cemetery.
