York boy wins AGC tournament

YORK - A local boy has taken top honors in the Association of Grappling Competitors tournament held July 29 in Massachusetts.

Tyler Kawczynski, 10, placed first in the Association of Grappling Competitors "The Beginning" Submission Grappling Tournament held in Sudbury, Mass., on Saturday.

Tyler won the championship no-gi match by armbar submission, making second-place winner Chris Kelley of Biddeford tap-out 40 seconds before the end of round one.

Tyler is a student of Master Bob Denault of Defense Tactics Systems in Kittery and is training to compete nationally in Mixed Martial Arts Competitions.
