York Days

Two sporting events remain in York Days 2006

YORK - If you're looking for some fun in the sun, the week ahead may just have what you're looking for thanks to York Parks and Recreation's 2006 York Days events.

The all-new York Days Youth Tennis Tournament is set for Aug. 4 and the 24th Annual Amidon Family Dentistry York Days Road Race will be held on Aug. 6.

Beginner, advanced beginner and intermediate tennis players will be at the York High School courts on Aug. 4 for a morning of tournament play for those interested in seeing a live tennis tournament as part of their York Days fun.

The tournament will get underway at 8 a.m. for those who registered in advance of the Parks and Recreation Department's July 20 deadline. Prizes will be awarded to all winners in their bracket, and refreshments will be provided.

Registration is ongoing for the Parks and Recreation Department's 24th Annual Amidon Family Dentistry York Days Road Race to be held this Sunday, Aug. 6, at 8 a.m. The race will depart from York High School and offers mile markers, water, splits, professional timing, prizes, raffles, as well as police and ambulance services.

Free T-shirts will be given to the first 200 overall registrants.

This race will be immediately followed by a one-mile fun run - at a charge of $5 per person - to top off the weeklong York Days celebration.

Pre-registration for the race is $12 and the fee on race day is $15, with check-in and registration open at 7 a.m.
