Tree falls to lightning. This ragged stump was a 50-foot pine tree prior to a fast-moving thunderstorm on Friday evening, July 28, when lightning felled it quicker than a woodsman's axe. The lightning hit between three homes at the corner of Elizabeth Lane and Chase's Pond Road. In at least one home, it knocked out telephone service, the well pump, a television and a dishwasher. There was no personal injury reported.
