Advancing the path to a cancer-free future, one mile at a time

YORK - From Kittery to the summit of Cadillac Mountain, two brothers with close ties to Maine will run and bicycle in August to raise funds for the Maine Cancer Foundation, a charity that funds cancer research, education and patient support programs throughout the state.

"The Way Life Should Be Tour," honors the struggle Tyler and Andrew Hudon's mother Linda faced when she was diagnosed with cancer last year, as well as so many others who face the challenge of a cancer diagnosis.

The event begins with an Aug. 5 kickoff at the Kittery Trading Post.

"Tyler and Andrew are challenging themselves on an arduous tour of Maine, an eight-day run and cycle up the coast and through the western mountains," said Maine Cancer Executive Director Foundation Susan Rowan. "Their efforts are inspiring to all of us, and especially appreciated by cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones."

Their goal is to raises $20,000 in this ambitious undertaking.

From the Saturday's kickoff at the Kittery Trading Post, the brothers will chart separate courses and be reunited Aug. 13 at the finish atop Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park.

Andrew, 23, with his friend Nate will cycle an 870-mile itinerary while Tyler, 21, runs a 218-mile coastal route.

"Although our days on the road will be challenging and exhausting, it pales in comparison with what our mother and too many others have had to deal with when faced with cancer," Tyler said. "I hope that people will honor the hardship involved with this disease, and join us as we move closer to a cure, one mile at a time."
