Local restaurants support the York Public Library

YORK VILLAGE - Eating out on Thursday, Aug. 17, will do more than satisfy your appetite.

Many local restaurants are participating in "Food for Thought," a fundraising benefit for the York Public Library. Patrons who eat at one of the participating restaurants will actually be donating to the library because each restaurant has pledged to give at least 10 percent of its revenues earned on Aug. 17 and some restaurants have opted to donate more.

The partial list of participating restaurants includes many popular spots for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even dessert that are located in and around York.

The restaurants include York Village's 421 Bakery and Café, Coppertop Bistro, Food & Co, Greenleaves Chinese Restaurant, Stolen Menu Café, Stonewall Kitchen Café, The Village Scoop and Tre Ragazze; Cape Neddick's Flo's, Lucia's Kitchen and Talpey's Tavern; York Beach's Inn on the Blues, Panda and Sakura and Wicked Good Ice Cream; York Harbor's Chapman Cottage, Dockside Restaurant, Lobster Cover Restaurant and York Harbor Inn and Kennebunk's On the Marsh, owned by York Harbor's own Denise Rubin.

So, if you are looking for a place to eat - be it breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert - on you can visit one of these local businesses on Aug. 17 and tell them you are there to support "Food for Thought" and the York Public Library.

You might also consider a gift certificate for lunch or dinner, and tell the establishment why you are purchasing it on Aug.17. Gift certificates make wonderful inserts for birthday cards or can be a "thank-you" for someone special.

Bon appetit!
