York Lions Club Auction Fun(d)-raiser is biggest ever
YORK BEACH - The York Lions Club has done it again.On Friday, Aug. 4, the York Lions drew a crowd of 150 to 175 people to their annual auction event.
With Howard Koeppel as auctioneer entertaining the crowd, the York Lions Club raised $7,300 this year - topping past events.
There were more than 200 gift certificates donated from area restaurants and businesses to help raise funds for the Lions' charitable programs.
For those who attended, the word was that it was a beautiful evening with the "Auction Fun(d)-raiser" lasting until after 9 p.m.
This is the Lions Club's biggest fundraiser of the year other than its annual Christmas tree sales in York Village.
All proceeds from the programs are used to help those who cannot afford eyeglasses or hearing aids and to help others in need.
