Pirates of the... southern Maine coast?

YORK -No, Johnny Depp was not on the beach last week promoting his new blockbuster "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," but someone who looked like Depp was trying to take advantage of the film's popularity.Saturday afternoon, Aug. 5, an unidentified man dressed in full pirate regalia was on Short Sands Beach asking people if they'd like to have their pictures taken with him.
According to eyewitnesses at the beach and to local police, he looked like Depp's character from the hit movie as he made his rounds along the beach.
Police said he was not asking for money to have the photos taken and did have a female companion who was taking pictures as he made his rounds.
Neither the impersonator nor his companion was identified.
Police warned the couple to leave the area and, should the urge to spend time at the beach in full costume return, to talk with police before putting in an appearance.
