The York Art Association is having a busy year, celebrating its 50th anniversary with a succession of shows. The season is not over yet, however. The YAA is now hanging a Summer Specialty Show, to open this Friday evening, Aug. 18, with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. at the YAA Gallery in York Harbor. The theme of the show is "Impressions of York" and it will present works by member artists, each of whom will have at least one work included in the show and sale. The show chairwoman is member artist Rosalind Fedeli. The show will be judged by Rose Theriault of Rochester, N.H., pictured here, an award-winning alumna of the University of New Hampshire who has taught in Vermont and Massachusetts, is a member of the N.H. and Ogunquit Art Associations, has won awards in a variety of media and has exhibited widely at venues as diverse as the Brickstore Museum, Currier Gallery, Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery, New England Center and Barn Gallery. An original oil painting donated by member Dennis Poirier will be raffled off to support the York Art Association's scholarship fund. The Summer Specialty Show will run through Sept. 17. For information, please call the York Art Association at 363-4049.
