YORK - AIDS Response-Seacoast is pleased to announce its 21st Annual Twilight Auction, to be held Saturday, Aug. 26, and some local items are up for bid.

The event is set to begin at 4 p.m. at the Frank Jones Center, located on the Route 1 bypass in Portsmouth, N.H.

This year's popular charity event is generously sponsored by Stonewall Kitchen, Greystone Builders, Club Inside/Out, Maine Street in Ogunquit, Ann Erwin-Sotheby's, and Re-Max York.

Included in the $25 ticket price are a bid card and a festive dinner, courtesy of McIntosh College's Atlantic Culinary Academy. Coffee, dessert and a full bar are also available.

The auction has something for everyone, ranging from gift certificates for dinner at area restaurants, to tickets for an African safari, to paintings by such Seacoast artists as DeWitt Hardy, Jane O'Connell, Lincoln Perry and Peter Welch, to rare prints by the late photographer Roger Rutherford.

Of special interest, local auctioneer Howard Koeppel has confirmed the auction includes such York items as a gift certificate for a private dinner at The Stolen Menu Cafe valued at $800; one-of-a-kind framed fabric art by Nancy Morgan entitled "Carousel at York Beach" and valued at $2,500; a gift basket from Stonewall Kitchen and over 100 live auction and 150 silent auction items.

Absentee bids are welcome by calling (207) 475-6824.

Additionally, award-winning writer Joyce Traxler will be auctioning an opportunity to the highest bidder to appear as a character in her new romance/murder mystery, "O Paradiso!" to be published in 2008.

Proceeds from the event directly benefit people living with HIV/AIDS in the Seacoast region.

AIDS Response-Seacoast is a non-profit, community-based HIV/AIDS service organization dedicated to providing education, direct assistance, and advocacy to persons and communities affected by HIV/AIDS.
