Library events in the weeks ahead
YORK VILLAGE - There's a little bit of everything happening at the York Public Library in the month ahead.New Art Exhibits
New this month is a library-wide exhibit of the watercolors of South Berwick artist Dewitt Hardy. Come meet the artist at an artist talk scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m., by the fireplace. The exhibit will continue through the end of September.
York Art Association artist Heather Henriksen recently mounted an exhibition of her Maine-themed photographs in the Kennebunk Room. Viewers will recognize many of her subjects: a York Beach street scene, lobster boats and buoys, roadside lupine, the Nubble lighthouse and more.
Coming Events
The Summer Film Festival concludes on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. with a showing of the romantic comedy "Pat and Mike." The film, starring Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, won an Oscar in 1953 for Writer's Best Story/Film/Play. Admission and popcorn are free, with donations accepted.
On Thursday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m., Professor Michael Lee will facilitate the first session in the "Let's Talk About It" series on Jewish literature. The series is now full.
On Tuesday, Sept. 19, the Third Annual York Public Library Golf Tournament takes place at the York Golf and Tennis Club. Registration for the "Read the Green Challenge" begins at noon, with play beginning at 1 p.m. To register or to get more information about the event, call 363-2818.
