SEEING RED FOR THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION
Project: Redway was an unqualified success at Foster's Clambake in York Harbor on Wednesday evening, Aug. 23, raising funds for the American Heart Association's "Go Red For Women" campaign. For this first-ever event, local celebrities, models and even special guests like Larry the Lobster, pictured here, took to the runway to support the cause. For more, see the story.

With his watch in hand, York resident Jeff Patten emerges from the chilly waters off Sohier Park after breaking his own record, swimming from Boon Island to the Nubble Light on Saturday, Aug. 26. Patten undertook the swim to raise money for York Hospital's "Caring for All" program. The program serves individuals without adequate health insurance. See story.

The ordinance to establish a workforce housing program in town is headed for a final public hearing next month, but its future is far from certain. Jeff Patten will turn 49 next month. While Jeff Patten was swimming from Boon Island to the Nubble Light last Saturday, York attorney Wendy Starkey was doing the same thing for a different cause. Weekend traffic on Interstate 95 came to a standstill on Sunday, Aug. 27, as what officials have described as a horrific two-car crash injured four motorists. Capriccio 2006 will take place from Sept. 4 through Sept. 17.
