Area KeyBank staff to give back on "Neighbors Make the Difference Day"

YORK COUNTY - On Thursday, Sept. 14, more than 330 KeyBank Maine employees will provide a variety of services to 41 community organizations throughout the state during the company's 17th annual "Neighbors Make the Difference Day."

In Southern Maine, Springvale employees will provide landscaping services for Strategies for Stronger Sanford; Biddeford employees will be painting and cleaning at the Northern York County YMCA; Kennebunk employees will provide services to EQUEST Therapeutic Riding Center; Kittery employees will provide services to the Fair Tide Thrift Shop, and Saco employees will work with Saco Parks and Recreation.

Most KeyCenter branches will close at noon on Thursday, Sept. 14, making it possible for employees to participate.

"We're deeply involved in helping to improve and positively impact our communities throughout Maine," said District President Steve Woods, "but the activities of 'Neighbors Day' go far beyond business as usual. This outreach comes straight from the hearts of our employees."

Nationwide, KeyBank staff members are participating in this outreach event with more than 7,000 employees donating 28,000 hours of community service.

Outside of York County, employees are providing a variety of services to organizations such as the Kennebec Valley Humane Society in Augusta, Good Shepherd Food Bank in Lewiston, Portland Trails and St. Lawrence Community Arts Center in Portland, Popham Beach in Phippsburg and Camp Ketcha in Scarborough.

KeyBank established Neighbors Make the Difference Day in 1990 as a beach cleanup project among its employees in Alaska. In 1993, KeyCorp rolled out Neighbor's Day nationally as a means of enhancing the quality of life in communities where its 20,000 employees live and work.
