York Public Library's 2006 Golf Tournament promises fun for a cause

YORK VILLAGE - The York Public Library invites all golfers to take the "Read the Green Challenge" by participating in the Third Annual York Public Library Open Golf Tournament on Sept. 19 at the York Golf and Tennis Club.The event will tee-off at 1 p.m., followed by a traditional lobster feast.
Play includes several golf challenges, including a hole-in-one on Hole 17 that will win the player a Ford Fusion donated by Starkey Ford.
Other hole-in-one prizes are a $500 Legal Seafoods gift certificate; a three-day, two-night getaway at an InnSeasons Resort, and a Dell home computer system.
Non-golfers are welcome to join the players for dinner and the evening's festivities, including raffles and a silent auction with items such as a DVD player, an iPod, a weekend at the Viewpoint in York and a stay at a Sunday River ski condominium.
The tournament will raise funds for the library's collections, child and adult programming, capital improvements and building repairs.

The $150 per-player fee covers the cost of dinner, the cart and greens fees, and contributes to the library as well.
