"Read the Green" and more in the weeks ahead
By Assistant Director Sudie Blanchard
YORK VILLAGE - There are just a few more days to go until tee-off at the Third Annual York Public Library Golf Tournament. The "Read the Green Challenge" Tournament at the York Golf and Tennis Club begins next Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 1 p.m.
All abilities are welcome to play, and there's still time to register for the game. In addition to a good game of golf, greens fees and a cart, a lobster/chicken dinner is included.
There are also several "hole-in-one" golf challenges that could award successful players with prizes donated by local businesses that include a car, a computer system and a get-away weekend.
Not a golfer? Sign up for just the dinner, have an opportunity to bid on silent auction items and participate in a raffle or two.
Funds raised by the tournament will directly benefit the library's growing book and media collection, fund increasingly popular children's and adult programs, and continue to build a reserve fund for improvements.
Call the library at 363-2818 to sign up for the event or download a registration form from the library website at www.york.lib.me.us.
