Samuel J. Gloriant

YORK - Samuel J. Gloriant, 87, of 117 Long Sands Road, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006.

He was born in New Britain, Conn., son of Samuel J. and Marjorie (Babcock) Gloriant. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and had served with the 45th Infantry Division and was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star.

He had worked for New England Telephone Co. for many years at Fort Devens. He was a lifelong member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the VFW post 6538 in Townsend, Mass., and an avid fisherman.

His wife of 59 years, Florence S. Gloriant, died Sept. 3, 2006.

He leaves two sons, David A. Gloriant and his wife Kathleen of Somerville, Mass., and James P. Gloriant and his wife Diane of York; a brother, Edward Regan of Chico, Calif., and a sister, Eleanor Jordan of Leominster, Mass.; a granddaughter, Jessica L. Gloriant, and a great-granddaughter, Sarah Mears, both of Fitchburg, Mass.

Funeral services and burial will be private.
