York Hospital receives $20,000 donation from Women's Committee

YORK - York Hospital recently received a $20,000 donation from the Women's Committee, a dedicated group of local women who have been raising funds for the hospital for 75 years.
"The Women's Committee is one of the most dedicated groups I have ever seen," said York Hospital President Jud Knox. "They have raised money for a variety of services year after year, and their many contributions have touched the lives of thousands who have received care from York Hospital."
The committee holds an annual fundraising event with dinner at the home of one of its members and an evening of theater entertainment at the Ogunquit Playhouse.
This year's event was held at the oceanfront home of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Peterson of York Harbor. Approximately 150 people attended the event.
Proceeds from this year's event helped the hospital purchase an intra-aortic balloon pump for use in the cardiac catheterization lab at the hospital. The device is used to assist the workload of the heart muscle during a heart attack until the heart is well enough to pump on its own.
"We are deeply grateful and indebted to this terrific committee," Knox said.
