Library presents children's music program

YORK VILLAGE - "Music and Movement," a new monthly program for children ages 2 to 6, will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at the York Public Library.

This free parent-child class, held from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m., will focus on developing both musical and social skills, with emphasis on moving to the beat and learning traditional songs.

Taught by South Berwick resident Michelle Franey, the class will familiarize children with musical elements such as tempo, dynamics and register. Franey holds a degree in music education from the University of Southern Maine. She has been a private music teacher since 1986 and taught elementary music for Maine School Administrative District 35 from 1999 to 2003.

This free-of-charge class will meet on the first Wednesday of each month in the Children's Room of the York Public. Space may be limited.
