York's Gerry Beekman joins The Cat Doctor
YORK BEACH - Dr. Gerry Beekman has joined The Cat Doctor of Dover, N.H., just in time for this feline-focused veterinary office to celebrate its fifth anniversary.The Cat Doctor is celebrating with an open house this Saturday, Sept. 30. Veterinary Dr. Joann Young will also be welcoming an animal behaviorist, Dr. Michelle Posage, who will be giving a talk at 3 p.m.
Beekman is joining The Cat Doctor after over a decade of caring for cats at The Cat Clinic here in York.
"Many of our own kitties will be glad to see him return, as we 'inherited' many of them almost three years ago. Dr. Beekman left private practice and closed The Cat Clinic to work as an assistant professor at the Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center of the University of New England in Biddeford," explained Jerry Lang of The Cat Doctor in an announcement of the upcoming events. "He misses working with cats, and is glad to be practicing high quality feline medicine again with Dr. Young."
Beekman is a fellow of the Academy of Feline Medicine, a member of the American
Association of Feline Practitioners and a graduate of Cornell University.
Visitors to Saturday's open house can meet Beekman and Posage from 1 to 4 p.m., tour the facility, visit the "Cat Condos" - complete with their four-poster oak beds, and see the surgery suite and dental area. There will be presentations, pictures, snacks and fun for the entire family.
