Pick a pumpkin or two to help those in need

OGUNQUIT - The York-Ogunquit United Methodist Church will be having a Pumpkin Patch beginning Friday, Oct. 6, through Halloween.

The Pumpkin Patch will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 12:30 to 5 p.m. through Oct. 31.

The pumpkins are grown on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico and delivered by truck to churches all over the United States.

Proceeds from the Pumpkin Patch will not only benefit the Navajo Agricultural Products Industry and Navajo workers, but the York-Ogunquit United Methodist Church's share will be sent to UMCOR for Katrina Recovery.

Prices start as low as 50 cents and range up to $25 to $50 for the very large pumpkins.

Most pumpkins will be in the low to mid-price range. Weekend activities for the children include pumpkin painting, bean bag toss, storytelling and photographs.
