York Pee Wee Football falls to Somersworth

SOMERSWORTH, N.H. - On Sunday, Oct. 1, the York Pee Wee Youth Football A and B teams fell to their Somersworth hosts in Southern Maine Youth Football League action.

The B squad score was Somersworth, 20, and York, 6. In the initial game with York's B squad, the Wildcats scored only one touchdown on a breakaway 54-yard run by Kevin McKenna.

Kevin Barrett led York's defensive efforts with five lone tackles and an assist, with Eli Loeffler assisting in four other tackles and Sean Kelley helping York defenders to pull six other Somersworth runners down. The remaining York B squad defensive players combined for an additional 34 solo tackles and assists against Somersworth's repeated drives.

The A squad score was Somersworth, 22, and York, 6, Quarterback Thomas Kinton led York rushing on the day with 56 yards, and running back Donald Goodrich scored York's only touchdown against Somersworth. Kinton also completed a 14-yard pass, which was nicely caught on a leaping grab by Andrew La Monica.

Defensively, Wesley Warner and Jared Clauson led York with a pair of solo tackles each, with Warner making four assists and Clauson, two. Ryan Le Clair led tackle assists with six, while Evan McElwain and Alex Jannetti also had four assists each. The remaining York A squad defensive players combined for an additional 23 solo tackles and assists against the hosting Somersworth team.

York Pee Wee A and B squads will play again Saturday, Oct. 7, when the Wildcats travel to Noble for a night game under the lights.
