Dolls are much more than child's play at Wells-Ogunquit event
OGUNQUIT - On Thursday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m., at the Meetinghouse, the Historical Society of Wells and Ogunquit will present "Dolls: History, Preservation, Restoration," the first in a series of programs on collectibles.Lydia Raymond, owner of ReLiving Dolls located on Log Cabin Road in Kennebunkport, will speak on the history of dolls, their importance in society, their roles in our households and their restoration and preservation.
Raymond has been working with dolls since 1976 and received her degree as a doll doctor - yes, there is such a degree - in 1994. Currently, she is a consultant on conservation, preservation, and restoration of antique and damaged dolls.
You are invited to bring your questions and any favorite dolls you might have to share in the discussion. The dolls need not be only antique as those of any previous generation need to be conserved for the future.
