SEMI-FINALS FOR U-14 TEAM. The Columbus Day Weekend Tournament, held this past weekend in Rochester, N.H., saw plenty of play for York's under-14 co-ed soccer team, which made it to the semi-finals with one win over Oyster River, 2 to 1; a scoreless tie with Concord, and two losses. The losses came against Rochester, 1 to 0, and in the semi-final game against Concord, 3 to 0. Athletes pictured include York's Alex Bailey and Stephanie Gallagher.

Football

Before a large York crowd, including the Junior Wildcats and an ambitious pep band last Friday night, Oct. 6, the undefeated Mountain Valley Falcons (6-0) rolled over the short-handed York Wildcats (4-2) by a final score 37-7. On Saturday, Oct. 7, the York Pee Wee Youth Football A and B teams defeated their Noble hosts in Southern Maine Youth Football League action.

Soccer

The York boys' soccer team continued their on-off ways with a disappointing effort in losing to Greely 3-0, followed by a much better performance against Traip for a 4-0 win, leaving the Wildcats at 7-4-1 heading into last night's game at Freeport. The York girls' soccer team finished up the heart of their regular season this past week going 1-2, with a fortunate away win at Cape sandwiched between shutout losses to Yarmouth and Falmouth.

Field Hockey

York field hockey played their final regular season home games this past week in what was an emotional seven days for the 15 seniors who are the heart of the team.

Cross Country

On Friday, Oct. 6, the York cross-country teams traveled to Gull Crest Park, in Cape Elizabeth, for the final regular season meet.

Ongoing

On Friday, Oct. 13, Cape Neddick Country Club will host its first golf fundraiser for the York baseball program. If you've heard a rumor that the Recreation Department has taken over the York Sports Center on Route 1, it is not true.
