Headlines from York and Ogunquit, Maine

THAT TIME OF YEAR. Members of the York under-13 girls' soccer team whoop it up at Bog Road this past Monday during the York Soccer Club's annual Harvest Cup tournament. The event saw nearly 500 girls and their families from New England and Canada come to York to participate in the oldest and largest all-girls soccer tournament in New England. The U-13 team pictured here played through to the championship game before falling to Dover, N.H., in a double overtime thriller. More fun with an autumn flair continues this weekend with the town-wide celebration of Harvestfest, beginning Friday and continuing through Sunday afternoon.

It's that time of year again.
With the Nov. 7 election now less than a month away, local officials have been taking a close look at the effort to get the citizen-petitioned Taxpayer Bill of Rights on the ballot, and what they've found is a New York City billionaire.
The qualities of life of living in a small town or village in New England as opposed to living in a larger city are many, but probably most pronounced during hard times and crisis situations.
Mark your calendars for the third annual OgunquitFest celebration on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20 through 22.
After months of discussion, the School Committee has voted unanimously to extend an offer to Ogunquit officials to admit that town's approximately 50 students to York's schools on a tuition basis.
