"Burning Issues to Burning Embers" at Wells Reserve
WELLS - Join teachers, resource professionals and community volunteers to learn about fire ecology and how this fascinating topic connects to school studies.The Wells Reserve will host a Project Learning Tree workshop on Thursday, Oct. 26, from 3:30 to 7 p.m.
Explore the Project Learning Tree high school curriculum materials and learn how The Nature Conservancy utilizes fire.
Southern Maine TNC Preserve Manager T. Parker Schuerman will present a local story about fire using maps and historical data. This workshop, led by trained facilitators, and Maine Forest Service Fire Prevention Specialist Kent Nelson, takes a look at prescribed burns, history of the 1947 fire and the urban interface.
Project Learning Tree (PLT) is an internationally recognized premier environmental education program. Through hands-on, interdisciplinary activities, PLT provides students from preschool through grade 12 with opportunities to investigate environmental issues and encourages them to make informed, responsible decisions.
Maine PLT is an education program of the Maine Tree Foundation.

The Cost of the workshop is $25, which includes two high school guides and many other resources to take home. Meet in the Wells/Laudholm Farm parking lot at 3:30 p.m. and please dress for outdoor activities.
