Caroline Starkey

YORK - Caroline "Cadda" H. Starkey, 84, of 26 Plaisted Road, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, in York Hospital.

She was born in York, daughter of Dean G. and Florence (Hildreth) Woodward, Sr. She was a graduate of Westbrook Jr. College, class of 1941. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Dale Motors and later worked as a real estate agent for the Woodward Agency. She was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church, the National Association of Realtors, a longtime member of the Girl Scouts and a member of the York County Genealogy Society. She was also a charter member of the Mockingbird club.

She leaves two daughters, Sally L. Starkey-Woodbury of Carrabassett Valley and Deborah A. Scates and her husband, Kerry N. Scates, of South China, Maine; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Woodbury of York, Derek Scates of Somers Point, N.J., and Jennie Williams of Gardiner, and two great-grandchildren, Keenan R. Woodbury of York and Hayden P. Thompson of Shiprock, N.M.

Her husband of 57 years, Raymond H. Starkey, died in 1999. She was also predeceased by a brother, Dean G. Woodward, in 2003, a sister, Abby Raynes, in 1993 and a grandson, Josiah T.C. Woodbury, in 1994.

The funeral service for Mrs. Starkey will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, in the First Parish Congregational Church. Burial will follow in First Parish Cemetery.
