Undefeated: field hockey season may be done, but they are not

YORK - Field hockey had their final regular season game last Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Falmouth.Falmouth is usually very cold, and it was very cloudy and cold that day. York had to work hard throughout the game, and they learned early in the game that this was not going to be an easy game.
Megan Yorke scored first for York, assisted by Michaela Franey. York was held to one goal for the rest of the first half. York did not score again until there was less than five minutes left in the game. Kortnee Cribby scored for York, assisted by Yorke, and Becky Enright scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Emily Morin.
York's goalkeeper, Brittney Barrett, had a shutout, with help from her defense. York offense had a total of nine shots on the Falmouth goal keeper. The final score was 3-0, and York had the perfect regular season: undefeated.
At the end of the game, Coach Barb Marios proudly said, "I knew Falmouth was going to be a good test for us. I give our girls a lot of credit, for completing an undefeated season. It is not an easy task."
York field hockey is now practicing harder than ever with playoffs around the corner. The team is looking forward to the challenge. Many of the seniors have been through playoffs before, and are more anxious than ever for the playoffs with this being their last chance to win the state title.
York's first playoff game is today, Wednesday, Oct. 18, against Mountain Valley at York at 3:30 p.m. If York wins their first playoff game, then they will play in a semi-final game on Saturday, Oct. 21, against the winner of the Maranacook vs. Greely quarter-final game.

Come and support York field hockey on their way to the state title. It is York's 15 seniors' final chance to win a state title, and this season will be a season to remember.
