U-12 girls' soccer team plays strong

YORK - The York under-12 girls' soccer team played three strong games in the Harvest Cup Tournament.

In the first game, they ran into a tough goalie and despite outplaying and outshooting their opponent, they lost 1-0. Game two was against Marshwood and York fell 2-1. Tori Knoepfel scored York's only goal. In game three, York's offense got on track and York defeated Raymond 2-0 with goals by Anna Swiatek and Knoepfel.

In all three games York got strong performances from their goalies Eliza Hazen, Colleen Keenan, Marquis MacGlashing and Olivia Leroux. The combination of York's goalies and a strong defensive corps of Lauren Durkin, Izzy Goodwin, Eleni Zotos and Maddie Knoepfel played extremely well, allowing a total three goals against in three games.

On Saturday, Oct .14, the York U-12 Girls defeated Noble 2-0 with goals by Olivia Leroux and Tori Knoepfel. The second game ended in a tie with York's goals coming from Keenan and Tori Knoepfel. York's third game of the weekend was a 2-1 win over Yarmouth, with goals by Keenan and Leroux.

Rachel Yorke, Amy Ziobrowski, Melissa Mitchell, Corina Fitzgerald, Ruby Cribby, Emily Campbell, Talia Pepin and Swiatek all played very strong in all three games.
