YORK - The York Police Department, the Haverhill, Mass., Police Narcotics Unit, Essex County Drug Task Force Cross Boarders Initiative, Kittery Police Department, Portsmouth, N.H., police and federal drug enforcement agents have worked together on a tri-state drug investigation that resulted in three arrests in Haverhill last week.On Thursday, Oct. 12, the three Massachusetts men were taken into custody, with local police crediting the work of departments to share information and collaborate across town and state lines as making the arrests possible.
York Police Detective Thomas Cryan said the cooperative effort ended in the seizure of more than $20,000 in cash alone, along with a significant amount of cocaine and firearms.
Cryan said the goal of the departments is to work together to stem the tide of drugs in each of their communities.
"We're collaborating and sharing our information," he said of the effort that culminated in last week's arrests.
The Haverhill Police Department confirmed that three Massachusetts men are facing criminal court proceedings in connection with the investigation.
Charged with trafficking in cocaine over 200 grams are Johnny Delgado, 30, of 257 Rosemont St., Haverhill, Mass.; Ramon Rosario, 25, of 48 Ayer St., also in Haverhill, and Jeremy Gagalis, 24, of 120 Howard St., Lawrence, Mass.
Police also confirmed the investigation led to the seizure of approximately 500 grams or one-half of a kilo of cocaine, and approximately $20,251 in U.S. currency, along with a .22 cal. rifle.
The investigation centered on the residence at 257 Rosemont St. in Haverhill, according to the Haverhill Police Department.
Delgado was also charged with possession of a rifle without a firearms identification card.
All three defendants were held without bail pending their arraignment last week at Haverhill District Court, when each was assigned bail in the amount of $75,000 cash.
