Get to know the Maine moose at Friday event in York Village

YORK VILLAGE - Anthony Musante of the University of New Hampshire Department of Natural Resources will be giving a lecture and slide show entitled The Moose in Northern New England.

The program, which is free and open to the public, is being given in recognition of the biodiversity of the Mount Agamenticus region and efforts to preserve it. The event will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, at the First Parish Congregational Church Hall.

Musante has conducted extensive field investigations on moose using modern research techniques including aerial telemetry and radio-collars while studying this animal in northern New England.

Working with a group of field technicians under his direction, they have uncovered some fascinating information on the moose, which is the largest member of the deer family in North America.

The program is being sponsored by the Mount Agamenticus to the Sea Coalition, the York Land Trust, Great Works Regional Land Trust, Kittery Land Trust, Maine Coast Heritage Trust, Trust For Public Land, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, The Nature Conservancy and the Wells Reserve.
