Many local residents counted among winners of "Reap the Harvest"
YORK - On a beautiful fall weekend, the 22nd Annual Harvestfest came to a close with the drawing of the winners of the popular "Reap the Harvest" raffle.The raffle, which is sponsored by The Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce, is the final event in a week of festive fall activities.
This year's print was again designed by National Artist Steve Lowtwait as the second in a series of five that he is creating to lead up to the 25th anniversary of Harvestfest in 2009.
A very surprised and shocked Mary Brackley of Wells was the big winner of the $1,000 cash grand prize donated by the chamber.
"Last year was my first year entering the raffle and I plan on entering again from now on," she said.
Beulah Kilgore of York won the second-place prize of a $500 shopping spree to Hannaford.
"I am so surprised, I never win anything," she exclaimed when she came to pick up her gift certificate at the chamber's Visitor Center.
Karen Batchelder of Wakefield, Mass., was the winner of the three-day stay at the Misty Harbor Resort in Wells. The three-day stay at The Sea Mist Motel in Wells went to Ed Maxwell of Palmer, Mass. Suzanne Johnson of Florence, Vt., won the free night stay at one of the Seaside Vacation Rentals cottages. The two framed prints by local York artist Gloria Gustafson went to John Salinger of Berwick and Joyce Cole of Saratoga, N.Y. Mary Cronin of Melrose, Mass., and Scott Mace of Kittery will each be enjoying dinner for two at the Dockside Restaurant in York Harbor. The inmate made wooden ship replica from Woods to Goods went to John Aldrich of North Haverhill, N.H. Danni Callahan of York Beach took home the vintage surfboard wall hanging from the Daisy Trading Post and Maureen Ryan won the one night stay for two with breakfast at the Inn at Long Sands on Long Sands Beach. Melissa Moulton of York will be enjoying a $150 gift certificate to Inn on the Blues in York Beach. The Julie's Ristorante of Ogunquit gift baskets went to Martha Ackerman of Nashua, N.H., and Nancy Monks of York. The Julie's Ristorante gift certificate went to Donna Leibovitz of York Beach. Sylvin Watkins of Port Orchard, Wash., won the picnic extravaganza from Sentry Hill at York Harbor and Ron Ferragamo will be taking home the collection of historical York books and a one-year membership from the Old York Historical Society.
