York-Ogunquit Election News

Less than one week remains before decision day on everything from local zoning to the governor's race to the Taxpayer Bill of Rights. Recently, the Maine Bankers Association released a statement endorsing Ken Lemont's campaign for State Senate District 1, which includes Kittery, Eliot, York and Ogunquit. York Democrat Gloria Layman and Eliot Republican Jeff Furbish are facing off for the District 5 seat on the York County Commission. From state, county and gubernatorial races to local zoning questions to a citizen-petitioned initiative to change the way budgeting is handled, area residents have plenty of reasons to head to the polls on Nov. 7 or take out absentee ballots for this year's mid-term election. Democrat Peter Bowman and Republican Ken Lemont, two local residents with close ties to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, are seeking election to the Maine District 1 Senate seat. Democrat Dawn Hill and incumbent Republican Bradley Moulton are vying to serve Ogunquit and parts of Wells, Kittery and York, as District 149 representative. Democrat Kinley Gregg and Republican Windol Weaver and are vying for the Maine House of Representatives seat being vacated by David Ott, R-York.
