Young professionals launch Catapult networking group

YORK - Catapult, the Seacoast's first networking group specifically dedicated to young professionals, announces its launch with a premiere event on Nov. 8 at The Sports Page in nearby Portsmouth, N.H.

Catapult plans to combine monthly social events showcasing local hotspots with a series of professional development seminars, which will begin in 2007. By coupling career development programs with social events, Catapult hopes to serve as a catalyst for young professionals to connect both personally and professionally, and make an impact in their own lives and in the broader community.

Catapult was founded in May 2006 by nine local young professionals who share a common vision to provide a forum for young professionals to network, exchange ideas and share common interests. The group was created as an organized means to give young people the resources they need for individual professional growth as well as retain talent in New Hampshire and southern Maine.

"There are a number of other networking groups in the Portsmouth area, but none fill the unique niche that catapult does," said Catapult Chairwoman Helen Donington. "We've formed this group specifically to attract and welcome young professionals to the Seacoast community and to provide a means to keep talented professionals in the area. This is the next generation of leadership on the Seacoast."

Catapult is a nonprofit organization, and membership is free. The kickoff event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and admission is free and open to anyone interested in learning more about Catapult.

Appetizers will be provided along with a cash bar. The event is being sponsored by The Sports Page, Infinite Imaging, RumbleTree and Lyons Law Offices.
