Reserve your spot for the Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce Annual Membership Dinner Nov. 16

YORK - From honoring Citizen of the Year Russ Peterson to an array of local volunteers from the town's served by the Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce, the Annual Membership Dinner will be a night to celebrate.

The theme of this year's event is "Our Chamber - The Tie that Binds." The winners of this year's chamber awards will be honored at the event, which will be held next Thursday, Nov. 16, at Spring Hill Lodge in South Berwick.

"There are so many worthy individuals within our communities who deserve to be recognized for their contributions to improving our quality of life," said Maureen Regan, chairwoman of the chamber board. "However, the list had to be narrowed and we are delighted with the selections our committee brought forward."

In addition to Peterson's selection as York Citizen of the Year, several residents from York and beyond will be honored at the event.

The Chamber Committee Volunteer of the Year is Chris Kehl of Kennebunk Savings Bank. Chris serves as treasurer of chamber, is a past chair of Harvestfest and continues to chair logistics for the event.

Rich Sweitek will receive the Best Friend of the Chamber award for his efforts in helping the chamber work on branding, marketing and promotion of the KEYS region.

The Next Generation Award will go to Justin Rosberg and Jason Parent, the founders of the popular and fast growing chain of shops known as The Meat House.

Four Gateway Awards will be given to individuals who have improved the quality of life in the four primary towns the chamber serves, Kittery, Eliot, York and South Berwick.

Joseph and Carol Donnelly of York will be recognized for their contributions to land preservation, water quality improvements, involvement in the Mount Agamenticus to the Sea programs and the recent passage of the working waterfront legislation in Maine.

Steve Workman will receive the Kittery award for his efforts in promoting healthy communities including his service on the Community Wellness Coalition Coordinating Council and his efforts to improve bicycling safety and access in southern Maine.

Col. John Lippincott of Eliot has been chosen for his many years of dedication as chair of Eliot Festival Day.

Vicki Desilets has been selected to receive one of the Gateway awards for her work with seniors in South Berwick.

Sponsors of the Chamber Annual Membership Dinner include Berwick Academy, Cummings, Lamont and McNamee, P.A., Infinite Imaging, James B. Bartlett, P.A., Wentworth Douglass Hospital and York Hospital. Wine sponsors of the event are Bartley's Dockside Restaurant, Julie's Ristorante and Rivers by the Sea Sales and Rentals. Greeters are provided by Ocean National Bank.

The dinner is open to the public, but space is limited. The cost is $50 per person and reservations can be made by calling the Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce at 363-4422.

The Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce includes Kittery, Eliot, South Berwick, and the Yorks. It is the fourth largest chamber in Maine.
