Cross Country

On Saturday, Nov. 4, one week later than originally scheduled, the cross-country teams traveled to Leavitt High School in Turner for the state championship meet.

Field Hockey

The previously undefeated York field hockey team saw their season come to a another heartbreaking end last Saturday, Nov. 4, at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland, where the Wildcats went down in the state championship game to two-time defending state champions Belfast for the third year in a row.

Football

Last Saturday, Nov. 4, the York High Wildcats (7-3) journeyed to Cape Elizabeth to take on the Capers (9-1) in a Western Maine Class B playoff game.
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS. In this past weekend's Maine State Championship, York's under-14 co-ed soccer team came away in first place, defeating Windham by a score of 3-1 in the semi-finals, and defeating Western Maine United by a score of 7-0 for the championship game. GRAPPLING FOR A TITLE. York's own Tyler Kawczynski 11, placed second in the 11th North American Grappling Championship, the largest grappling tournament in the world. Tyler competed in the Expert No-Gi Division this past Saturday, Nov. 4, at the PITT Center at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn. There were over 1,000 competitors at the event, with some from as far away as Venezuela flying in to compete. In preparation for this tournament, Tyler trained with five-time UFC World Champion Pat Miletich the last week in November in Hooksett N.H. Miletich is the coach of two current UFC Champions, Matt Hughes, the 9X defending Welterweight Champ, and Tim Sylvia of Ellsworth, the current Heavyweight Champion. Miletich was in Hooksett at Tokyo Joes conducting a seminar for Team Woo, which is undefeated in MMA competition. Tyler has been training with Team Woo for about two months and is very excited about the instruction he receives from Head Instructor Roger Woo and Sensei Ed Carr. Tyler is also a student of Master Bob Denault of Defense Tactics Systems in Kittery, and is training to compete nationally in Mixed Martial Arts Competitions.
