Headlines from York and Ogunquit, Maine

FOOTLOOSE. Bud Kenny, his wife Patricia and their 12-year-old Belgian draft mule Della take a break Tuesday, Nov. 7, on Long Beach Avenue, during their tour around the world on foot. Beginning in June, 2001 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, the trio traveled on foot to Prospect Harbor, Maine, where Bud wrote a book about the first leg of their journey and took time to design a lighter weight trailer. From Maine, the travelers now plan to head through Boston and down to New York and a hoped for appearance on the Today Show, and then on to North Carolina from where they will ship Della and their trailer across the Atlantic to begin a journey across Ireland, Scotland and England, on to the European mainland and then Asia. The Kennys expect that their journey will take about 20 years to complete, and their goal is simply to meet people and see the world. During their travels, the couple walks on foot while Della hauls the trailer named "Footloose," in which the Kenny's eat and sleep. The recommendation of the town's Tax Task Force to establish a committee to work on the scheduling of capital projects has won approval of the Board of Selectmen, but there will be more discussion on the fate of the rest of the proposal Beginning today, Wednesday, Nov. 8, it's going to take longer to get where you're going if you're accustomed to traveling along Route 91. From the second phase of the Highland Farm subdivision to a proposal to raze the two buildings adjacent to Fazio's Restaurant to make way for an office building, the Planning Board will tackle a weighty agenda when it meets this week. Rebuilding of the Captain Thomas Road bridge that was washed out in the May storm hit a snag as a result of the heavy rains that occurred over the weekend of Oct. 28 and 29. Officials have confirmed that an agreement between St. Mary's Church and the town is in the works that will increase the number of paid parking spaces during the summer season.
