The Music Scene...
BIG HAND BLUES BAND AT BEACHFIRE. The story of the Big Hand Blues Band begins with an epiphany and photo. After years of playing in different blues and rock bands, Karl Heller was struck with the true blues bug. He dug deep and engrossed himself in the music that caught his soul. He felt a deep connection to bluesmen such as Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Junior Wells, Lightning Hopkins, John Lee Hooker and many others from the heyday of electric blues in the 1950s and 60s. After this realization, Karl formed the Big Hand Blues Band. Around this time, he took a picture of his right hand. In the negative it looked as if a man was waving and smiling back at him. Karl called this image his soul, because to him it confirmed he had made the right choice. The Big Hand Blues Band will be playing at BeachFire Bar & Grille in Ogunquit on Friday, Nov. 17.
