COMING EVENTS

Throughout the fall, the library is sponsoring two identical "Let's Talk About It" series on Jewish literature on Thursdays at 7 p.m. Both sections of this series are fully subscribed, but we are listing the dates and times of the remaining sessions so that attendees can find the information if needed.

Series A, with facilitator Michael Lee, includes "The Centaur in the Garden" by M. Scliar on Nov. 16 and "Kaaterskill Falls" by Allegra Goodman on Dec. 7. Series B, with facilitator Sandell Morse, includes "The Centaur in the Garden" by M. Scliar on Nov. 30 and "Kaaterskill Falls" by Allegra Goodman on Dec. 14.

Now's the time to stop by the library and register to create your own gingerbread house! A flier with the details and registration blanks are available at the library and via the library website. Completed gingerbread houses will be on display at the library in the Children's Room from December 2 to 12 as part of York's Festival of Lights Celebration.

YORK READERS THEATRE

York Readers Theatre will present William Nicholson's "Retreat From Moscow" in the Meeting Room Theater at the library this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17 and 18, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. "Retreat From Moscow" is a richly lyrical and metaphorical play that uses Napoleon's horrific retreat from Moscow in 1812, one of the most tragic events in the history of warfare, as multi-faceted metaphor for the emotional pain and suffering that is inflicted on a family when confronted with divorce. This three-person play was recently seen on Broadway with the lead roles portrayed by John Lithgow, Eileen Atkins and Ben Chaplin. See our Arts page for more on this weekend's performance.
