Skating for a cause
YORK - Feel like getting some exercise for a good cause?Take a trip across the bridge to Newington, N.H., this Friday, Nov. 17, and you can help raise funds for the proposed Bog Road Community Playground during "Skate for the Playground" at Roller Skate Newington.
No pre-registration is required; just show up between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. at Roller Skate Newington and proceeds from the $4.50 fee to skate - which includes roller skates, but in-line skates cost extra - will be designated toward the playground project.
The Bog Road Community Playground Committee has organized this evening of family fun and Roller Skate Newington has agreed that all proceeds will go toward Benjamin Park, which is slated for completion in May.
Benjamin Park is named in memory of baby Benjamin Wholey, whose parents and family began the fundraising effort in his memory so that residents and visitors will have a place to play with their children and enjoy meeting others from the community and beyond.
The event will feature door prizes, raffles and more throughout the night.
