Students honored for achievement in French, Spanish and German
A total of 54 York High School students were recently inducted into the school's three World Language Honor Societies for high academic achievement in French, Spanish or German study at the high school level. YORK - On Monday evening, Nov. 13, the World Language Honor Society Induction was held at York High School, and before the evening was over, more than 50 students were honored for their achievements.
A total of 18 students were inducted into the French honor society, La Société Honoraire de Français; 10 students were inducted into the German honor society, Deutsche Ehrenverbindung Delta Epsilon Phi, and 26 students were inducted into the Spanish honor society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica.
The students had to maintain a 93 percent average in the foreign language they have studied and an 85 percent overall average in their other subjects.
To begin the program, students who are current members in the honor societies sang German and Spanish songs and recited a French poem.
The students inducted into La Société Honoraire de Français last week include Regan Cleminson, Liza Cody, Jill Cola, Julia Comeau, Mary Cronin, Kallen Decato, Elisabeth Duquette, Natalie Kaknes, Michelle Knowles, Jessica Kofman, Hope Ladd, Katherine McGuigan, Rebecca Raynor, Emily Rose, Hannah Schriefer, Kara Smith, Kylie Vallee and Jacob Young.
The students inducted into the Deutsche Ehrenverbindung Delta Epsilon Phi include Sara Demos, Jacqueline Desmond, Jason Durkin, Sara Hanlon, Chelsea Jordan, Ryan Means, Brittany Morley, Kayla Peard, Lindsay Putnam and Katherine Rasche.
The students inducted into the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica include Allison Bailey, Frawley Barton, Cara Cavalieri, Ian Clayton, Sharon Ehret, Luke Graziano, Matthew Haight, Jennifer Hall, Jenna Hosmer, Alex Hymanson, Michael Hymanson, Larkin Keyes, Sarah Loeffler, Kevin Maran, Cameron McIntire, Emily Morin, Graciela Patane, Stephanie Plaisted, Emma Power, Daniel Powers, Bridget Rhinehart, Paul Saltzman, Kelsey Simonds, Peter Thibault, Kenneth Weigel and Haley Westman.
