Festival of Lights

FROM THE LAND TO PRESERVE THE LAND. A trip to Stonewall Kitchen here in town this weekend promises the sights, sounds, aromas and tastes of the holidays with a special treat from the York Land Trust. Beginning Friday, Dec. 1, through Sunday, Dec. 3, The York Land Trust and Stonewall Kitchen will join forces to present From the Land, a wreath-selling where local designers, artists and horticulturists will create fresh, handmade wreaths using natural and indigenous materials. The York Land Trust is dedicated to conserving and protecting lands of ecological, historic, scenic, agricultural and educational significance in the greater York area, and the unique wreaths, which will be for sale, exemplify the organization's respect for the land. Organizers noted that thanks to the generosity of Stonewall Kitchen owners Jonathan King and Jim Stott, all proceeds will benefit the York Land Trust. Hours for this event are Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. For more information, call the York Land Trust 363-7400.

The 14th Annual Festival of Lights is set to begin, and organizers promise this year's event will include all the joy of past celebrations, and more. Fans of the Festival of Lights celebration are certainly not strangers to the work of the First Parish Church Women's Fellowship, as their annual Wreath and Greens Sale is a staple of the event. The York Rotary Club, American Legion Post #56, and Boy Scouts Troop 301 are working together in the Toys for Tots program this Christmas season. Christmas is coming to St. George's Episcopal Church, with all its whirlwind joy, bright laughter and deep reverence. This Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 2 and 3, visit Painted Treasures on Route 1 and enjoy gourmet pastries, good cheer and shopping as well with one-of-a-kind gifts for those special people on your holiday shopping list. What possibly could a seventh grader call "hard work" but then "exciting" in the next sentence?
